Save The Single Gourmet

Are you single, getting older and not ashamed to eat until your heart’s content? You may soon be running out of luck all-together. For the past 8 years Dallas/Ft. Worth area foodies have had a monthly sanctuary in which to come together under the common bond of delicious eats at The Single Gourmet. After all, who cares if you overindulge as long as you have somebody to gain weight with? There’s no minimum weight requirement, but for singles who would rather order more than a dainty salad and could use a night out fellow veterans of the DFW dating scene, The Single Gourmet has offered the best of both worlds. As a member of The Single Gourmet, participants have been privy to classes and instruction in both gourmet cooking and fine dining, with a full calendar of specially hosted events catering to unattached men and women between the ages of 30 and 70, finally giving a reprieve from the loud, bar-centric social setting even aging singles have been all too often subjected to. Unfortunately, unless someone takes over the Single Gourmet business, an entire community of sophisticated individuals of refined taste will soon be forced to make the ultimate walk of shame back into the world of delivery Chinese food and on-Demand movies from whence they came.Without immediate action The Singles Gourmet may be gone forever, meaning no more multi-course dinners, wine tastings and worst of all, quality time with interesting people. It’s certainly still possible to find love if you’re over 30, though without great common interest groups and low pressure settings like The Singles Gourmet, it can be tough sledding in a city seemingly filled residents barely able to buy their own wine, much less discern an aged pinot from boxed Franzia.
